A re-supply of Estonian music eccentric Misha Panfilov’s Repetitive Music from 2022 appears though Ultraaani, updating the stock from its original 50-copy lathe run. Analogue synth, jazz and psycho-groove collide, bringing a faintly electronic, freak-a-billy feel to ‘Stratum’; then a downturn into freshwater ambient pools in ‘Pauluna’, and finally the entoptic piano delays of ‘Tune For Janno’. With Moogish saw tritones, minimalist piano and synthesizer studies made between 2020 and 2021 in Tallinn, Vaskjala and Vaana-Joesuu, the record sits closer in spirit to minimalist composition and ambient electronics than his funk-informed recordings elsewhere.
