Da Lukas

Out of Palermo under multiple aliases, Da Lukas is part of Italo’s main stem, emodying the spirit of the genre for its emphasis on original artistry and hidden DIY function. His latest six-track whacker ‘Rhythm Heritage’ has much to offer in that regard, but swerves from Italo proper to focus more on beatdown percussion-disco, ‘Black Coffee’ with those double-tap bar-end bongo hits, ‘Fresh Fruit Disco’ with its bustling souk assortments of shaker and grunt. ‘Cosmic Yoruba’ is the most spiritually, ancestrally forward of the lot, edging out with a noted Afro-disco inspo.
